Acupressure and Tui Na Chinese Massage

Tui Na and acupressure are vigorous, yet relaxing, massage and manipulation
techniques and represent integral therapeutic treatment methods in the system of
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and are used to correct physiological imbalance
and achieve curative effects.

Acupressure involves applying pressure directly to specific locations of the body
(acupoints) and Tui Na incorporates a variety of massage techniques along the
meridian channels, to restore balance and promote healthy harmonious flow of Qi (vital
energy) throughout the body.

Tui Na and acupressure can be used not only to treat complaints but also to protect
health, strengthen the body and prevent disease. By practising self-acupressure and
following a lifestyle in accordance with TCM philosophy, ancient physicians have been
able to maintain and promote healthy circulation, eliminate fatigue and restlessness,
strengthen the tendons and muscles of the body and promote longevity.

Thus Tui Na Chinese massage and acupressure are techniques within a medical
system which seeks not only to irradicate symptoms of illness, but to enhance the
quality of life.

Tui Na Chinese massage and acupressure are able to help:
  • Ease tension
  • Relieve pain
  • Improve flexibility and mobility of the joints
  • Promote relaxation
  • Bring the energy of the whole body back into balance

Acupressure and Tui Na Chinese massage are able to treat the whole person, helping
many non-musculoskeletal conditions as well as easing pain and discomfort;
harmonising digestion and encouraging weight loss are examples. Also Tui Na to the
face and scalp can be incredibly relaxing to relieve tension and anxiety, clear blocked
sinuses and relieve head colds.

As with Acupuncture, a Tui Na Chinese massage treatment session will still include a
full health consultation and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) analysis to diagnose
the nature of imbalance and consequently prescribe an appropriate combination of
acupressure points to include in treatment.
